Fairview Heights Events
The parks in Fairview Heights were created for the use and enjoyment of city residents. Reservations can be made for company picnics, family reunions, class reunions, birthday parties or any special event.
Residents of Fairview Heights enjoy the array of sports, recreation, and activity programs offered year around by the Fairview Heights Parks and Recreation Department. The programs utilize city parks and other facilities in the community.
Senior citizens enjoy the use of two senior centers — the 60s Plus Senior Center at the Municipal Complex and the SWIC/Caseyville Township Senior Center nearby.

- EVERETT
MOODY PARK AT LONGACRE: City
council voted to rename Longacre Park after the city’s first mayor; name change
was effective with a commemoration ceremony in June 2007. Mayor Moody was
instrumental in purchasing the property for a city park on Longacre, Pleasant
Ridge, and 6 neighborhood parks. He also donated his first year’s salary to
the development of parks.
- WHITE
FLAGS ON FRANK SCOTT PARKWAY: The white
flags along the Parkway indicate where IDOT has determined the birch, red ash,
bald cypress, white pine, crabapple, and red oak trees will be planted. If the
city feels that additional trees will be beneficial, the city may apply for
another IDOT grant next year. I will push to submit that application.
- BUNKHAM
ROAD CLOSURE: Is moving more slowly than anticipated, with both lanes
closed during the day. Daily information about closings can be obtained by
calling 489-2027.
- TRAFFIC
SIGNAL AT LAKELAND HILLS DRIVE PROPOSED: Residents have circulated
petitions to request a signal at the only entrance/exit to their subdivision.
Although IDOT initially denied this request, they are continuing to ask the
state representatives for support.
- I-64
UPDATE AND GENERAL INFORMATION
- Beautification of Current
Entry/Exit at Hwy 159 & I-64 – The city continues to work on
plans to beautify this area. It currently has no control over the
maintenance (grass mowing, litter pick-up) of this state-owned property,
but will be responsible for the upkeep of a half mile east and west of the
intersection once the landscaping grant is accepted. Initial plans have
been altered. Being able to pick up debris and cut the area more than
twice a year (that is the state’s schedule) will be a benefit in itself.
